On the concluding day of campaigning, BJP Chief Sanjay Tandon held public meetings in different wards along with the party candidates. Tandon accompanied Jagtar Singh Jagga, BJP candidate from ward number 25 in a road show carried out by him in Manimajra. He also attended the road show carried out by ward number 4 candidate, Sunita Dhawan, where Aarti Mehra, senior leader and former in-charge for Chandigarh BJP, accompanied them in the Sector 24 market.
Tandon, while addressing the residents in Sector 24, said, “The world is all set to see a new India on January 1, 2017, which will be free from corruption and black money. Tomorrow, city residents will vote for change — a change for development, a change for a corruption-free city, and a change for prosperity. I am sure the voters will show Congress the power of their finger by throwing the corrupt out of the MC house.”
While appealing to the residents to vote for the BJP, Tandon said only the BJP could accomplish its promises, with the MP of Chandigarh being from the BJP, and a BJP government in the centre. “Our manifesto was released a week ago, but Congress could not bring theirs out till yesterday as they had no ideas and it was a cut-and-paste job, which only shows their lack of commitment towards the betterment of the city,” he added.
In other parts of the city BJP candidates Gurpreet Dhillon from ward number 21 and Chandrawati Shukla from ward number 12 also carried out massive road shows to appeal to the voters to use their right to power.
In ward 22, a car rally was carried out by BJP candidate Davesh Moudgil, who was accompanied by BJP leader Satya Pal Jain, former Member of Parliament and Additional Solicitor General . The rally began from the Election office, Sector 47-D and went through Sectors 47, 48, and 31, and Industrial area phase 2.
Meanwhile, Congress candidates carried out road shows as well. Sandeep Bhardwaj, who is facing the BJP’s Davesh Moudgil, held a road show. He said that he got a tremendous response from supporters as well as residents, who greeted and welcomed him on the way.
Meenakshi Choudhary, Congress candidate from ward Number 13, held a car rally in Sectors 49, 50, 51 and 63 on the concluding day of the campaign.
