A week has passed since an Ola cab driver was found murdered inside his car. But the police is yet to make any headway in the case. The cops who were heavily relying on the CCTV footages installed in Phase V, had to bite the dust after it was found that the cameras were not functioning at the time of the incident.

Those who were rounded up during the investigation were also released.

Police sources told Chandigarh Newsline that they have checked all the CCTV cameras installed in banks and nearby areas and all were found to be non-functional. This has created a major hurdle in the investigation. They said that they will write to the banks to repair their CCTV cameras or else face action.

“All the cameras installed in banks and ATMs were found to be non-functional. We have footage of only one CCTV camera where the car which Manoj was driving has been captured,” added a official probing the case.

However, Phase 1 SHO Sukhwinder Singh said that they are working on all angles and assured that they will soon be able to find a vital lead.

Meanwhile, the people who were rounded from from the dhabas, and bordering sectors of Chandigarh were released after the questioning. Police sources told Chandigarh Newsline that they still believe that the attackers were known to Manoj and that they had a brawl. Though, no clue indicated that Manoj was having drinks with anyone at the time of the incident as was indicated initially.
