Inspired by the independent woman of today,jewellery designer Neety Singh has put together a collection of neckpieces,bracelets and rings. The collection was formally unveiled by Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal and designer Ritu Kumar at the launch of the book, Woman: The Real Jewel (Rs 1500) in Delhi last week. The jewellery,also showcased in the book,boasts of vintage designs with a contemporary touch and has been crafted using pearls,turquoise and semi-precious stones such as ruby and sapphire. Singh designed the pieces keeping in mind the 20 successful women who have been profiled and featured in the book. For the royal scion,Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur,Singh made a five-string Polki and south sea pearl necklace while emerald earrings,surrounded by a row of uncut diamonds,set in 22 karat gold was Singh’s creation for Ritu Kumar. Singh has captured the soulful music of Delhi-based singer Sonam Kalra in chandelier jhumkis comprising of flowing basra pearls. “I wanted the jewellery to be representative of the personalities of the women featured in the book,” explains the designer. The proceeds of the book and the collection will go towards Nanhi Chhaan,a NGO supported by Badal,which works towards strengthening women by making them socially and economically independent.
