NSUI announces presidential candidate,ties up with HIMSU

In a major announcement ahead of the student council elections in Panjab University ,the National Student Union of India (NSUI) has declared Chandan Rana as Presidential candidate for the elections scheduled for September 4.

Chandan Rana (26),a PhD scholar from the Department of Biophysics,has been active in student politics in the university for the last four years. Rana was a member of the Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU) before he joined the NSUI in 2012 along with other party members. He has also been campus incharge for SOPU in 2010.

Also,NSUI announced its alliance with Himachal Pradesh Student Union (HIMSU) for the upcoming polls. HIMSU has emerged as a student organisation only this year,although it has remained active in various affiliated colleges of the university since many years.

The party is supported by a considerable fraction of students from Himachal Pradesh (HP) studying in the university,who have declared complete support for Rana,who hails from Hamirpur in HP.
