For those who had to wait endlessly to get their UIDAI cards delivered at their doorstep, help is at hand now. Not only can they check the status of their UIDAI,but also download the same if the number has been generated using e-Aadhaar.

According to the officials, anyone who has enrolled for Aadhaar can simply log on to http://www.uidai.gov.in to know about their Aadhaar status after 20 days of enrolment.

All one needs to do is enter the 14-digit enrolment number and 28-digit date and time of enrolment.

These 28 digits together form your temporary Enrolment ID.

Chandigarh is leading the country in UIDAI enrolment. For the city with a population of 11 lakh residents,93 per cent of the population has already been enrolled,a feat only matched by Puducherry so far.

Says the Deputy Director General,UIDAI,Keshni Anand Arora,“Till date,93 per cent of our population has already been enrolled for the UIDAI.

“One of the reasons for this is that recently there was a spurt in the enrolment due to the fact that the UT Administration launched direct cash transfer schemes and people know that in order to get these benefits, having a UIDAI number is a must.”

Arora said that as of now, they do not have a mechanism to know how many people have used the e-Aadhaar facility but that it indeed is useful for the residents and they are making all-out efforts to further sensitize people about this.

In case the status of a person shows Aadhaar has been approved, the person can download the e-Aadhaar from http://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. In case their Aadhaar status, shows,‘in process’ or ‘data not found’,the person should wait for 15 days and again log on to http://uidai.gov.in/check-your-aadhaar-status.html,for knowing the Aadhaar status.

For those whose Aadhaar status shows Aadhaar is rejected, they should re-enroll at the nearest enrollment centres, said the officials.

To popularise e-aadhaar,now the UT Administration has also started to create awareness about the same at the e-sampark centres across the city where anyone can go and get enrolled for the UIDAI.

For those who wish to get their names changed or make any change in the information given at the time of enrollment or for a change in address, they can log on to http://portal.uidai.gov.in/updatePortal/login.action for making online changes.

For the purpose, the person needs to upload the self-attested proof of the document for those fields which are to be updated. Similarly changes could be made for gender, date of birth, address and mobile number.
