Notices to UT over martyr’s museum

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices to Ministry of Home Affairs and Chandigarh Administration on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Malwinder SIngh Waraich and advocate Tanu Bedi. The duo have sought directions to the Administration to set up a museum of martyrs/freedom fighters portraying their heroic deeds and sacrifices through photographs,original documents and relics at a prominent site in Chandigarh. The petitioner has also sought directions to the respondents to decide the representation of Waraich rather than delaying action.

Waraich had submitted a representation on June 14,2011 to the Administration making the same demand but the representation has not been decided till now.

Notices to Mohali DC

CHANDIGARH: THE Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices to the Deputy Commissioner (DC),Mohali on a public interest litigation seeking directions to the Mohali Administration for the shifting of all the liquor vends from the city to commercial areas.
