Not faring well in studies,BA student hangs self

A 20-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Sector 56.

A 20-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Sector 56 on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Rajni,a second-year BA student of Government College,Sector 42. She is reported to have taken the extreme step as she was not faring well in studies and had even got a compartment.

According to Police,Rajni was alone in the house when the incident took place. “On Saturday,Rajni’s aunt Anita decided to visit the house as Rajni’s parents had gone to attend a wedding in Uttar Pradesh. She found the house door locked and despite ringing the doorbell,no one responded.”

As Anita grew worried,she informed the Rajni’s elder sister who works in Mohali and later police was informed. Police personnel broke the window and found her hanging in the bedroom.

No suicide note was recovered . The body has been sent for a post mortem to GMSH-16. Rajni’s father works in the electricity department. Inquest proceedings have begun into the incident.
