Never-say-die spirit on show at The Lawrence School,Sanawar

The second day of the 166th Founder’s Day celebrations at The Lawrence School,Sanawar began amidst great fervor,witnessing events including the ‘166th Annual Athletic Meet,’ a cultural evening and a screening of a short film.

The second day of the 166th Founder’s Day celebrations at The Lawrence School,Sanawar began amidst great fervor,witnessing events including the ‘166th Annual Athletic Meet,’ a cultural evening and a screening of a short film.

General Gaurav Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana,chief of the Nepalese Army and an alumnus of Sanawar (1971 batch,Himalaya) was chief guest for the occasion.

The athletes displayed the ‘Never Give In’ spirit as established in their school motto. Headmaster Praveen Vasisht bestowed a token of appreciation on the chief guest and extended his vote of thanks.

Later,awards were distributed to winners with Harish Sinam bagging the Fateh Pal Cup for Best Athlete (under-14 boys) and Bhavika Singh winning the Bala Cup for Best Athlete (Opens-girls). Kalinga Cup for Best Athlete (Opens – Boys) was awarded to Rohit Sinam,while Siwalik House won the over-all trophy. This was followed by the parent-teacher-meet. Also,soccer and basketball matches between the present and old Sanawarians were organised on the occasion.

A variety of entertainment items such as an Indian classical orchestra based on Raga ‘Yaman’; an Indian classical dance titled ‘Triveni’ and a cinematic presentation of the poem ‘Shakuntala’ by Kalidas were presented by students.

To inspire children to dream,a short film,‘Since I Dream,therefore I Dream’,directed by Siddharth Shashta was screened,followed by a tattoo show late in the evening.
