Two persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old man, whose body was found in Sector 38 (West) on September 19. The murder took place following a scuffle between the victim and his two friends.

According to the police, they arrested Munna and Jagran for allegedly killing Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Mohali, from near the railway station.

During the interrogation, Jagran said that he was working as a security guard for the last one year. He also said that he was working with a mason as a labourer at an underconstruction sports complex near the gurdwara in Sector 38 (West). Bhupinder was also working with the mason.

On the day of the incident, Bhupinder finished his job and went home and later returned to the site in the evening and met with Munna and Jagran and they all consumed liquor together. After consuming alcohol, Bhupinder insisted on staying on the site and both Jagran and Munna objected to it. The trio had a fight and both the accused hit Bhupinder with an iron rod in the head and he died on the spot.

Both the accused fled the spot to Jallandhar where Munna Ram was working as a labourer on a construction site and returned to Chandigarh on Wednesday night to take their belongings and were ready to escape to their natives villages in Jharkhand and Bihar.

According to the police, they had a secret information about the movement of both the accused and arrested both of them on Thursday.
