Mothers behind UPSC achievers honoured

Late Dr GC Mishra Memorial Education and Charitable Trust organised a function to honour mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day at Manav Mangal Smart School in Phase X,Mohali. The chief guest for the event was National Award winning actress Kirron Kher.

Late Dr GC Mishra Memorial Education and Charitable Trust organised a function to honour mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day at Manav Mangal Smart School in Phase X,Mohali. The chief guest for the event was National Award winning actress Kirron Kher.

The mothers honoured were Rayman Puri,Sadhna Garg,Prakash Kaur,Sunita Arora,Praveen Kwatra,Damyanti Gaind,Usha Sardana,Sharda Verma. Mothers of candidates who achieved the top 100 positions in the UPSC examination this year were also honoured.

While addressing the audience,Kher said she owed all her success in the field of acting to her mother.

Talking about motherhood in modern age Kher said,“The pace at which the world is changing,the concept of motherhood is also changing. I was brought up in a very simple time,and my mother always taught me to be truthful and never hurt anyone,but today the world has become very competitive and mothers must ensure ,more than ever before,that children do not lose sight of these essential values.”

Kher also said that she had given up work for many years to ensure that she gave all the attention to her son when he was growing up.

“The period of my life when I had given up work to bring up my son seemed very difficult and unrewarding then,but those years were some of my life’s most beautiful years,” the actor fondly reminisced.

A book ‘Ek Sangharsh Aisa Bhi’,authored by Mayank Mishra,was also released during the function by Kher. The book documents the life of eight personalities,who have been instrumental in setting up educational institutions in the region. Several officials from Mohali and Chandigarh were also present.
