A delegation of Mohali Industries Association (MIA) on Wednesday called upon A K Verma,Director of Operations,Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL),Patiala,informing him that the industries were getting only 72 hours of power supply a week,as a result of which industrial production had come to a standstill.
Anurag Aggarwal,MIA president,said,The shortage of power has hit a lot of industries which are running on continuous process,like heat treatment and wire enameling,as they are unable to cope with the suppliers demand. He added that the production at other dependent industries is also suffering and work there is going on only in one shift.
The delegation demanded that the corporation make appropriate arrangements to allow the usage of at least 50 percent of the contracted demand of power at night,so that the industries can continue their operations. They also brought to Vermas notice the problem of the non-availability of maintenance staff in the industrial area in Mohali.
Verma gave assurance that the corporation will try its level best to provide more power to the industries and that adequate maintenance staff will be deployed at the Industrial Area,Mohali,for maintenance jobs.
The delegation consisted of General Secretary R P Singh,Vice President Yogesh Sagar,Joint Secretary Sanjeev Vashisht,and other MIA members.
