Mohali in sight of outright win against Ludhiana

Led by fourth-wicket partnership of 114 runs from Sunny Sohal (96) and Gurkirat Mann (88),Mohali made a total of 253 runs in the second innings against Ludhiana in a match played during the ongoing Katoch Sheild being held at the PAU grounds in Ludhiana. Needing 208 runs for an outright win,Ludhiana were 65 for 5 at the end of day’s play. Resuming at overnight score of 51 runs for one in 10 overs,Mohali were bowled out for 253 in 63.5 overs. Sunny Sohal and Gurkirat Mann were the main architects of Mohali’s second innings. Sunny was in blazing form during his knock which came of in 144 deliveries. He smacked 11 fours during his knock. Gurkirat was aggressive in his approach as he smashed 88 runs off 112 balls. For Ludhiana,Anil Sihag bowled well to scalp five wickets while Rahul Singla grabbed three wickets. In reply,Ludhiana lost five of its batsmen for 65 runs and still need 143 runs to win with five wickets in hand. Mohali bowlers bowled impressively to stop the run flow of the Ludhiana team. Gurkirat Mann (2 for 13) and Varun Khanna (2 for 27) were the main wicket-takers for Mohali.

The PCA Stadium in Mohali will host Champions League Twenty20 qualifiers and one group stage match starting from September 17. Meanwhile,the teams Hyderabad Sunrisers,Kandurata Maroons and Otago Volts will play practice matches at Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh before the qualifiers.
