Mohali gets its first permanent Lok Adalat

The first ever permanent Lok Adalat in SAS Nagar was held in the District Court Complex on Wednesday

The first ever permanent Lok Adalat in SAS Nagar was held in the District Court Complex on Wednesday. The permanent Lok Adalat cases of the district were,until now,registered and tried in Rupnagar.

Around 632 of such pending cases were shifted to the new court.

The court,which will be held in Rupnagar for two days and in SAS Nagar for the remaining four days,tried around 50 cases on its first day.

“These adalats deal with cases related to public utility services like telephone service,banking service and power service,” said Jagroop Singh Mahal,chairman of the adalat. The adalat is headed by a two-member bench of J S Mahal and H S Walia.

Mahal said no fee is required for the settlement of cases and anyone can avail this service after a simple application. The aim of the adalat,he added,was quick disposal and settlement of minor disputes.
