The Haryana police on Sunday raided a hospital in Moga and arrested Dr Suneet Mittal for allegedly conducting sex determination tests and abortions on pregnant women. A sting operation was earlier conducted by Haryana police to trap the doctor.

The police claimed that a racket was jointly being run by Moga doctor along with Dr Jagdish Gadodra from Haryana against whom FIR was registered by Sirsa chief medical officer Viresh Bhushan.

“A small hospital named Ludhiana Bavaseer Hospital on railway road in Moga was raided following FIR registered with us by CMO Sirsa. Our woman constable was sent as patient in this sting operation. The doctor readily performed the sex determination test and also agreed to do abortion if a girl child was detected,” said Sukhdev Singh, SHO Dabwali police station Haryana.

Singh said that Haryana doctor used to send his patients for abortions and tests to Moga and both shared the fee taken from patients. He added that Moga police and health department were also informed about the action taken against Moga doctor under PCPNDT act.
