A day after the Scotland Yard arrested eight more people for the murderous attack on Lt Gen (Retd) Kuldeep Singh Brar in London, members of South Asia Peace Forum (SAPF) in the European Parliament on Saturday urged the British government to curb the “activities of pro-Khalistan groups” in the country.

“It is imperative for the British government to curb the activities of Khalistani groups, which continue to adhere to violence. The (British) government should also monitor the funds collected at gurdwaras, which were used by these groups,” the SAPF said in a statement

While condemning the brutal attack on Lt Gen Brar, who had led Operation Bluestar to flush out Khalistani terrorists holed up inside the Golden Temple in 1984,they said the pro-Khalistan groups were using FM radio and cable TV to propagate their views and to indoctrinate the younger generation “with an ideology that was known to have been responsible for the mayhem and violence witnessed in Punjab in the 1980s”.
