Medico borrows Rs 900 from friends to party,pays back with life

A student of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital,Faridkot,was murdered,allegedly by his own friends,after he failed to return back Rs 900 that he had borrowed from them to throw a party.

A student of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital,Faridkot,was murdered,allegedly by his own friends,after he failed to return back Rs 900 that he had borrowed from them to throw a party. He was brutally thrashed,for not paying up,during the intervening night of April 3 and 4 (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The deceased,Rana Ranbir Singh (21),is a resident of Amritsar and was the only child of his parents. The police have registered a case of murder against two persons,both Rana’s friends,based on a complaint lodged by Jaspal Singh,the father of the deceased.

As per the complaint,Rana used to live with two boys,Ravinder Veer Singh of Amritsar,who is employed with the mobile telephony giant Vodafone,and Anurudh Sharma,a radiographer at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital. Sharma hails from Ludhiana.

The deceased had recently purchased a Royal Enfield motorcycle and had borrowed Rs 900 from his friends to throw a party.

Angered over his failure to return the money,his friends allegedly attacked Rana with sharp-edged weapons late on Tuesday.

SSP Faridkot,Gurmeet Singh Chauhan,said,“We have been told that off late the deceased had been living in the college hostel. After Rana was critically injured,his room-partner,Ravinder Veer Singh,sought the help of another boy at the hostel to take him to the hospital.

“The hospital authorities declared Rana as brought dead. After this,Ravinder Veer Singh went absconding and his mobile phone also is switched off.

“The radiographer involved in the case is also missing. We are looking for them. In case they are innocent,they should join the inquiry.”
