Shot extensively in and around Chandigarh, director Harjit Ricky’s Punjabi film Sirphire will have its lead actress Monica Bedi jive to an item number titled Patang. Ricky announced this on Friday at the music launch of his film in Chandigarh. Produced by Emerging India Entertainment and Speed Records, the music of Sirphire has been composed by music director Jatinder Shah. The film releases on July 13 and stars Priyanshu Chatterjee,Monica Bedi,Preet Harpal,Roshan Prince and Gurleen Chopra. “It’s a film about our rich culture and heritage and how the superficial concepts of the West are eroding it,” says Ricky. The music that packs in unusual Punjabi beats,is peppy and melodious. “The music of Sirphire is a blend of melody and desi bhangra. The album has 10 songs, which are youthful and joyful in nature,” says Shah. The lyrics have been penned by Preeti Silon,Sippy Gill,Preet Harpal and Veer Baljit. While Roshan Prince and Preet Harpal have lent vocals,Sunidhi Chauhan has added another feather to this music bandwagon with her distinct voice in Patang. The movie has catchy numbers like Puchal by Lember Hussainpuri and Jhanjhar by Preet Harpal and Jaspinder Narula to list a few.
