Growing up at Mohali, youngster Gurkeerat Mann had always a dream to play a vital knock at the PCA Stadium. The youngster, who trains under Mohali coach Sukhwinder Tinku, smashed 29 runs off 12 balls to guide Kings XI Punjab to a four-wicket win over Deccan Chargers in an IPL match.

“It feels great to score such an important knock at my home stadium. When I came to bat,it was a tough situation but our skipper David Hussey encouraged me a lot. Facing Manpreet Gony in the last over was a challenge in itself, and I am happy that I scored for the team in this match. Hopefully,we will qualify for the play-offs and continue our winning run,” said Mann.

The youngster, who made his ODI debut for Punjab last season, played a stellar role for his state side’s march into the Syed Mushtaq Trophy for TWENTY20 title. Punjab eventually lost to Baroda in the final but Mann along with Mandeep Singh emerged as new poster boys for the state side. The youngster made 23 runs against Rajasthan Royals and is aiming high.

“It was a dream come true for me when Punjab reached the finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. Mandeep and I have played together a lot and that performance boosted my confidence a lot. I want to cement my place in Kings XI Punjab and Punjab side too,” said Mann.

KXIP skipper David Hussey showered praise on the youngster. “Mandy and Gurkeerat are very talented youngsters. When he came to bat,I knew he can do it,and I just told him to relax and play his normal game,” said Hussey.
