A local court sentenced a man to life imprisonment on charges of murder on Friday. The court had held him guilty on September 26,while the quantum of punishment was pronounced Saturday.
The Court of District and Sessions Judge S K Aggarwal also slapped a penalty of Rs 10000 apart from awarding the sentence to Vishal Sharma for a murder he committed in 2008.
Sharma was convicted for murdering Nitin Bansal,who died after receiving multiple stab wounds.
Nitin Bansal,who was going towards Sector 22 in his car along with two friends on September 18,2008,had stopped at the signal at Sector 15/16. Sharma,who was in front of Bansals car,allegedly did not move despite repeated requests.
When Bansal objected,Sharma abused and threatened him. Both of them got into their cars and left but later,Sharma stopped Bansal and stabbed him several times,which lead to his death.
The guilty,also injured in the fight,was assaulted by the friends of the deceased and filed a complain against the two.
The court,on September 26,convicted the two accused and sentenced them to two-and-a-half years rigorous imprisonment,while imposing a penalty of Rs 2,500 under Section 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of Indian Penal Code and two years of rigorous imprisonment and Rs 2,000 penalty under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of Indian Penal Code.
