Man killed as vehicle hits his cycle from behind in Panchkula

Rajinder, 45, was a native of Tamil Nadu and lived in Sector 15 along with his family members.

A MAINTENANCE worker of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) was killed after his cycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle here on Tuesday.

Rajinder, 45, was a native of Tamil Nadu and lived in Sector 15 along with his family members. He is survived by his wife and three children — two sons and a daughter. He had been working as a maintenance worker in HUDA for several years.

The incident occurred on Monday evening, when Rajinder had gone to the market on his cycle, soon after he returned from work. Around 7 pm, as soon as he crossed Sector 14 roundabout, an unidentified vehicle hit his cycle from behind and fled.

Some passerby, who witnessed the accident, rushed him to General Hospital, Sector 6, in an auto-rickshaw, from where he was referred to PGI, Chandigarh. He succumbed to injuries in PGI late on Monday night. The body was brought to the mortuary of the hospital for post-mortem.

No case was registered at the time of filing this story and the car driver was yet to be identified.
