A resident of Raipur village,Paramjeet Singh,on Friday accused the Chandigarh Police of inaction in a hit-and-run case involving his son.

Singh’s son,Tejvir Singh,20,was returning to his house in Raipur village on his motorbike a few days ago when he was hit by a vehicle which was allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner. Tejvir sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Mohali from where he was referred to PGI. He is currently at PGI and in a critical condition.

Paramjeet claims that on Friday morning,on his way home,he saw the number plate of the offending vehicle lying at the accident spot. He alleged that the police had not even gone over the spot of the accident and that it was he who handed over the registration number of the vehicle to the police.

When contacted, the police denied inaction saying,“We immediately registered an FIR and are trying to nab the driver of the offending vehicle. We are hopeful that we will soon arrest the accused”.
