Man held for ‘sexually exploiting’ minor daughter

The accused was arrested after his daughter narrated her ordeal to a doctor at PGI when she was taken for a checkup by her mother.

A 29-YEAR-OLD man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly sexually exploiting his seven-year old daughter. The accused was arrested after his daughter narrated her ordeal to a doctor at PGI when she was taken for a checkup by her mother. Police said the doctor informed Chandigarh police about the crime and police lodged an FIR after getting a statement of the victim’s mother.

Police said the accused was arrested from his house and sent to judicial custody for fourteen days. The man was booked under charges of rape and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).

A case was registered at Sector 11 police station. Police said the victim’s mother took her to PGI after she complained of severe pain in her private parts. Sources said when a woman doctor examined and interacted with the victim, she narrated her ordeal. A medical examination of the victim confirmed the crime, sources said.
