Man held for attempting to rape daughter

Police registered a case of attempt to murder against a city resident after his daughter filed a complaint.

Police registered a case of attempt to murder against a city resident after his daughter filed a complaint.

According to sources,the case was registered at the Sector-14 police station under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the IPC against Sector-12 resident Surinder,who was arrested on Monday.

Police officials said that no medical test was conducted as the girl only alleged that there was an attempt to rape.

The victim told the police that she was unmarried and her mother had died,several years ago.

A police official said that they were investigating the case.
