Man gets life for killing beggar

A local court,on Wednesday,awarded life imprisonment to a vegetable vendor in a murder case that took place around two years ago.

A local court,on Wednesday,awarded life imprisonment to a vegetable vendor in a murder case that took place around two years ago. The accused,identified as Krishan Kumarand alias Patra,was found guilty of killing a beggar in Mauli Jagran in December 2009 after his attempt to sexually assault him failed.

The beggar,who was in his late fifties,was sleeping on open ground in Mauli Jagran when the accused tried to sexually assault him on December 5,2009. The accused,who was in an inebriated state,hit the beggar on his forehead and face with a brick in a fit of rage. The beggar also fought back and Krishan was injured during the fight.

The beggar’s face was badly bruised and he could not be identified.

He was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH 32),where he died during treatment. The accused was arrested from the crime spot by the police.

Krishan was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Shalini Nagpal,Additional District and

Sessions Judge.
