His daughter was kidnapped by five unknown people he had claimed; they also robbed him of his valuables, his statement reads. The Chandigarh Police on Tuesday, however, said Naneh Phal,a resident of Mohali, had filed a false case and was in fact responsible for his seven-year-old daughter landing up in hospital.

According to police,Phal told them he was returning home on a motorcycle along with his daughter via Barwala road on Monday. When they reached Sector 31/32 dividing road, they were stopped by a few unknown people on a motorcycle, who,he claimed, robbed him of his wallet and mobile phone. Thereafter, they banged his head on the footpath, his statement reads. The victim alleged that the unknown people also tried to inject him with narcotics. When his daughter raised an alarm, they threatened to inject her with narcotics too. Phal claimed that he somehow managed to escape the spot while his daughter was kidnapped.

On investigation, police claimed to have found a completely different version from what they had been told. They retrieved Phal’s call details and found out that his phone had not been stolen and his statement was concocted. Police claimed that the complainant in fact, was intoxicated while riding on his motorcycle along with his daughter on Barwala road. The complainant met with an accident and fled the spot, leaving his daughter behind, they added.

The seven-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in Sector 6,Panchkula. She is in a stable condition now.
