Man arrested for putting up obscene posters of woman in Sector 21

A case was registered at the Sector 19 police station by the woman after she received numerous obscene phone calls.

UT Police on Wednesday arrested Varinder Goyat,a resident of Sector 30 who had allegedly pasted posters with obscene pictures of one of his ex-coworkers with her mobile number in Sector 21 on Wednesday. A case was registered at the Sector 19 police station by the woman after she received numerous obscene phone calls.

A case of obscene act and property defacement was registered against the accused and a probe into the matter led to the fact that the same woman had made a complaint on the same grounds at the Sector 34 police station.

“The complainant in this case had also made a complaint in the police station at Sector 34. The same thing had happened at a few months back when posters of the complainant were pasted on sign boards in Sector 32 with her mobile number address and mobile numbers of her friends,” said one of the police officials.

As per the police officials,the accused had been stalking the woman when they used to work together. Goyat is married with two children. In October 2012,Goyat had attempted to commit suicide. A case was registered and he was convicted by the lower court. Following this,Goyat,in order to take revenge from the accused had pasted posters of the woman first in Sector 32 a few months back and then in Sector 21 on Wednesday.
