Additional District and Sessions judge,Kanchan Mahi,on Thursday acquitted a rape accused after nearly five months of the incident. The court acquitted Kewal Krishen who was charged of having raped his adopted daughter.

A case was registered against Krishen in October 2012 following which the charges were filed against him in the court. However defence counsel in the case,Arvind Sud,said that the prosecution could not prove its case in the court leading to the acquittal of Krishen. “The material witnesses in the case had turned hostile and we had argued that the accused be set free as there was no credible evidence against him,” he said.

Earlier the real father of the girl had complained that Kewal Krishen raped her,but subsequently the girl did not confirm the rape and the complainant also did not favour the police case which became the grounds for acquittal.
