Himachal Pradesh High Court today granted relief to left-out genuine voters of Shimla Municipal Corporation, allowing them to get themselves registered before final publication of electoral rolls by April 26.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary passed orders on petitions filed by some locals alleging irregularities in the voters’ list.

The bench in its order advised the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to start registration process for all such voters from Friday and even keep the office open on April 22 to facilitate genuine claimants.

It said,“Under rule 22 (4) of the HP Municipal Corporation Election Rules,2012,the ERO ,if it appears that an error has crept in during preparation of draft electoral rolls,is empowered to take remedial action.”
