Lecture held in memory of former PU senate member

In the memory of late Major Jeeven Tiwari,the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension organised the Major Jeeven Tiwari Memorial Lecture in Panjab University on Tuesday.

In the memory of late Major Jeeven Tiwari,the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension organised the Major Jeeven Tiwari Memorial Lecture in Panjab University on Tuesday. Tiwari had been a member of the Panjab University Senate and Syndicate for more than a decade.

PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Arun Kumar Grover said that the School of Open Learning and Adult Education that was nurtured by Tiwari had trained youngsters to serve the society in a big way. Professor Bhuvan Chandel,who was also present,highlighted the contribution made by Tiwari in academics and administration of the University.

In her key note address,Professor Poonam Dhawan,Director,Department of Life Long Learning and Extension,Jammu University,said that adult education was quite relevent in the present scenario,and needed to be integrated with other departments of the university. She also said that education needed to be more inclusive to be relevent,adding that our education system should not only teach us concepts,but also encourage us to live together and accept each other’s viewpoints.
