There was high drama at the district court complex in Sector 17 on Thursday after two lawyers entered into a heated argument that eventually led to a scuffle. The incident took place outside the court of ACJM K K Goyal, when the two advocates — PC Dhiman and Raman K Sharma — left court after the hearing of their case.

According to the police,Raman K Sharma rang up the police station and complained that Dhiman had misbehaved with him. “We sent both lawyers for a medical examination and later they reached a compromise”,said Sub Inspector,Sarita Roy,incharge of ISBT police post,Sector 17.

Dhiman said: “Sharma passed some remarks which provoked me. I,however, later apologised for my behaviour”. Sharma, however, refused to comment on the issue, saying that he had already reached a compromise.

Meawhile, the District Bar Association president NK Nanda, said: “The incident has brought embarrassment to the lawyer community. We,however, managed to settle the dispute in the presence of the police. No case has been registered as the lawyers have reached a compromise”.

In a similar incident, last year,a group of lawyers had assaulted a police constable, posted as naib court inside a courtroom. Naib court Ram Karan was posted in the court of Judicial Magistrate Parinder Singh.
