Chandigarh: Haryana Pollution Control Board on Saturday warned all the industrial units of penal action including prosecution and closure if they are found flouting environment norms. The Board said it will initiate action against industrial units who have no effluent treatment plant (ETP) or are found to be discharging untreated effluent through the borewells. The Board said that in cases of units where the samples had failed,one opportunity would be given to them to submit their scheme of modification of air pollution control measures (ACPM) along with an undertaking to implement it,and a bank draft for the prescribed amount as performance security,a statement said.
Man kills wife
SONEPAT: Suspecting his wife of having an illicit relationship,a Sonepat resident hacked his wife to death on Saturday. Police said Amit,a resident of Rolad village in Sonepat district,assaulted his wife Pooja (25) and later hacked her to death. The Sonepat Police has arrested Amit on murder charges.
Man shot dead in marriage ceremony
SONEPAT: In yet another incident of ceremonial gunshot-firing going awry,a 20-year-old youth reportedly lost his life after a stray bullet hit him at a marriage ceremony late on Friday night. Police said the youth,Deepak,was hit on the head and died on the spot,after some guests fired gunshots in the air. A case of murder has been registered against unidentified people. Deepaks body was handed over to his parents,after the post mortem examination on Saturday morning.
Haryana signs deal to purchase power
CHANDIGARH: In an attempt to provide some relief to the states residents,the Haryana government has signed a contract for 350 MW of power. Disclosing this,Haryana Power Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said the new contract would ease the states power crisis July 15.
Haryana to get storage houses
CHANDIGARH: Owing to the bumper production of wheat in the country,particularly in Haryana,the Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution has decided to construct storage houses with a capacity of more than 20 lakh tonnes,in Haryana. Secretary,Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution,Sudhir Kumar said this after inspecting silos constructed by Adani Group in Solumajra,Kaithal on Saturday.
