The husband of former IPS officer Kiran Bedi and founder president of the Citizens’ Forum Vidya Mandir trust, Brij Bedi, passed away at a private hospital in Gurgaon Sunday. He was 77.
Brij was admitted to the hospital on January 28 after he complained of breathing and kidney-related issues. He reportedly passed away around 11 am Sunday. His last rites will be performed in Amritsar at 11 am Monday.
Hailing from Dera Baba Nanak, Batala, Brij loved photography and lawn tennis. He studied at Khalsa College in Amritsar. He had formed the Citizens’ Forum Vidya Mandir Trust in 2003 to educate children of drug addicts. A school is run by the Trust in Maqboolpura, and offers vocational courses as well as coaching for matriculation-based competitive exams.
“Amritsar has lost a man who loved his city the most. He was someone who spent his life addressing the cause of the needy. We will carry forward his service,” Kiran Bedi tweeted later.
