Kin allege negligence of doctors,create ruckus at GMCH-32

High drama was witnessed at Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,on Tuesday night,after a 38-year-old woman from Mohali died due to alleged negligence of doctors.

The police had to barricade the area around the emergency ward to prevent family members of the deceased from entering the building.

According to family members,Paramjeet was brought to the hospital at 5.30 am,after she had high fever and showed symptoms of dengue. They alleged that the doctors did not attend to her properly. Parminder,the victim’s nephew,said till 3 pm she was not attended by any doctor,and all that she was given in the name of treatment was glucose. “After 3 pm some tests were done,and doctors told us that her platelet count was falling. At 5 pm,we were told that her vital organs had stopped responding. If the doctors had attended to her in time,she could have been saved,” he added.

Paramjeet was declared dead around 9.45 pm. The victim is survived by her husband and two sons..Medical Superintendent Janmeja said they were looking into the allegations of the family members.
