Producing fresh evidence against MLA from the Doon constituency in Himachal Pradesh,Ram Kumar Chaudhary, and his associates in the murder of Hoshiarpur girl,Jyoti Kumari, police filed a supplementary challan against the accused before the court on Tuesday.

Sources said the supplementary challan was filed before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday and the court accepted the challan in the case. Confirming this,Commissioner Panchkula-Ambala range,Rajbir Deswal, said that in the challan fresh evidence against the MLA was brought before the court.

In the supplementary challan, police produced the letter that Panchkula police had written to Superintendent of Police,Mansa to trace the whereabouts of the MLA’s driver,Satpal,on whom the MLA had earlier passed the blame of having a relationship with the Hoshiarpur girl. This was besides the call transcripts produced between the Doon MLA’s wife Nidhi and that of the father of the deceased girl,in which she tried to bribe him to withdraw the case against her husband.

According to sources, the supplementary challan is evidence the MLA knew the girl as there are messages between them on her mobile phone, which had been deleted by the legislator and have now been retrieved by police. The messages include that of the greetings exchanged between the MLA and the deceased girl on Diwali.

Also,in the challan police have produced fresh evidence against the MLA,including Simmy’s statement, with whom Jyoti Kumari shared a relationship. The boy, from Arjun Nagar in Jalandhar, told the police that after he came to know about the deceased’s relationship with the MLA,he stopped talking to her.

The challan has been filed a day ahead of the hearing in the case on Wednesday. According to sources, the prosecution has already summoned seven witnesses, including those associated with the cell phone companies from whom Chaudhary and his associates had taken the cell phones. Also, their call details have been traced to a sector in Panchkula where the girl was found murdered last year.

Sources also added that as of now the police was waiting for the vaginal swab and blood samples of the deceased, while saying the report of the destruction of tyres by the accused as an evidence was also awaited.
