Jet Airways flight makes emergency landing at Chandigarh Airport

After a passenger reportedly fell unconscious,Jet Airways Delhi-Leh flight made an emergency landing at the Chandigarh Airport on Thursday.

The flight landed at the Chandigarh airport at 6:45 am after a 50-year-old Korean woman,Back Hyunhee,was taken ill after the flight took off. With Chandigarh being the nearest airport,the flight made an emergency landing here.

Since the pilot had given prior warning,teams were put into action at the airport. As the plane landed,the patient was provided medical aid on arrival and taken to the Medical Inspection room at the defence airport. A medical room has been set up at the Chandigarh Airport in collaboration with Fortis Hospital. Hyunhee was then referred to Fortis Hospital from where she was discharged after an examination.

Airport Controller H S Toor said while the Chandigarh Airport functions from 8 am to 8 pm,special arrangements were made for landing of the plane. “Having received information about a passenger falling unconscious aboard the plane,teams were put into action. When the plane landed,the patient was provided with medical care. She was then taken to Fortis Hospital from where she was discharged,” he added.

Officials said Hyunhee was doing a five-year meditation course for which she was visiting Leh. After her condition stabilised,she left from Chandigarh in the afternoon.

An official of Jet Airways said that the flight was diverted to the Chandigarh Airport due to the medical emergency.
