Accusing the BJP government of giving ‘most favoured’ treatment to Jaiparkash Associates Limited (JAL) and granting undue concessions for setting-up of a 60 MW thermal plant,PCC president Kaul Singh Thakur on Friday demanded the resignation of Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in light of the high court judgement which imposing a fine of Rs 100 crore on JAL and asked it to dismantle the thermal power plant.

Thakur denied Congress hand in illegalities committed by the company including allotment of 325 bighas of ‘village common land’. The congress government’s approval was as per law,he said.

“BJP’s association with Jaypee is well known. The party should know that former UP Chief Minister Mayawati was also doomed for her close links with the company,” Thakur alleged.

The PCC leader said the Congress government had taken a policy decision not to sanction any thermal power plant in the state to protect the environment. “Two officers were also placed under suspension for giving NOCs. But,the BJP on return to power reversed the decision and granted approval to Jaypee group for thermal plant of 60 MW capacity,” he added.

He also took objection to the land given to the company and demanded that all surplus land including Karcham Wangtoo and Baspa-II should be taken over by the government and an FIR should be registered for land violations.
