Jalandhar-Ludhiana match ends in draw

The Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Katoch Shield match between Ludhiana and Jalandhar at the PAU grounds in Ludhiana ended in a draw on Wednesday. With the match ending in a draw,Jalandhar earned three points while Ludhiana took one point. In reply to Jalandhar’s first innings total of 341 runs,Ludhiana were 306 for 5 when the match was declared drawn. Resuming at overnight score of 57 for 2,Ludhiana went on to score 306 for the loss of five wickets. Anil Sihag was in splendid form as he blazed away to an unbeaten knock of 128 runs. His knock included sixteen boundaries. Starting their day’s play,Ludhiana lost their overnight batsman Akhil Aggarwal when the batsman had scored 29 runs while Anil Sihag was playing on 41 runs. As Akhil perished,Anil was joined by Bharat Malhotra and the duo went on to stitch a partnership of 99 runs for the fourth-wicket. Bharat was out for 52 runs. Anil Sihag kept on batting with great aplomb and in the company of wicket-keeper Gitansh Khera and added 88 runs for the sixth-wicket. Gitansh Khera made 52 runs. The play was called off after the second mandatory overs were completed with Ludhiana on 306 or 5.

At the end of fourth round,Patiala sit at the top of the table with 21 points while Jalandhar are placed second with 15 points. Chandigarh are at the third position with 10 points while Mohali lie at the fourth spot with nine points.
