The Union Human Resource Development Ministry has sought a detailed report from the state government as well as the medical college, into the death of first year MBBS student Aman Satya Kachru of Dr Rajindra Prasad Medical College (RPGMC),Tanda.

Principal Secretary Health Deepak Shanan told The Indian Express that a detailed reply will be submitted soon. Principal RPGMC Anil Chauhan too said that as soon as the magisterial probe into the matter is complete, the report will be sent to the HRD Ministry. The inquiry is likely to take a fortnight,he added.

Said an HRD official from Delhi,”We have to place this report before the Raghvan Committee, which meets in Delhi on March 25 .The committee will decide how to proceed in this case and take other important decisions in the light of Supreme Court orders,” he said. There are indications of an exemplary action being proposed against former Principal S.Shankhayan, who had failed to check ragging in the college .

Meanwhile, the court has extended the police remand of Ajay Verma and Naveen Verma, accused of Kachru’s murder, till March 17. The duo were arrested by the police on Monday.

Superintendent of Police Atul Fulzele said that the accused were today produced before Judicial Magistrate (First Class),Kangra. Two other accused,Abhinav Verma and Mukul Verma, have been remanded to police custody till March 16.

Kangra Additional District Magistrate Sandeep Kumar, who has been appointed the Inquiry Magistrate by the state government,on Friday issued a notice to the general public and the students of the college. The notice said that those interested in giving their opinion or evidence can do so by appearing before the Inquiry Magistrate in his office at Dharamshala on March 20.

The Congress has demanded a judicial probe into the case, instead of a magisterial probe.
