The electrical department of the Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 16,denied allegations that the operation theaters of the hospital were not operative for two hours due to a powercut. The junior engineer said that generators at the hospital are fully functional at the hospital.

“Yesterday, there was a power failure from 1.25 pm to 2.35 pm,because the high tension supply failed due to short circuiting of CT Air Circuit Breaker panel of transformer number 2.

But,within two minutes, the generator was started and the emergency supply was provided to the hospital in the emergency area,” Ashok Kumar,SO,Electrical Department said.

The electricity was supplied within two minutes through generator and later, within one hour, the system was repaired and normal supply was provided.

Ashok Kumar denied that the electric supply was inoperational for a long time, due to which many operations were postponed. He said,“These are false allegations,as our generators are operative round-the-clock.”

The hospital has three generators of 60 KB and one generator of 120 KB for new OPD. “Generator number 1 is for blood bank, two lifts,Operation Theatre (OT) and generator number 2 is for Operation Theatre number one, labour room,sub-station,server and emergency room number 101,generator number 3 is for emergency room number 102,trauma OT,X-ray and Operation Theatre number 2 and 3,” Ashok Kumar SO,Electrical Department said.
