CHANDIGARH: The Rock Rovers Hockey Club affiliated with the Chandigarh Hockey Association will organise 11th edition of ONGC SN Vohra Memorial hockey tournament for the U-14 from August 19 to August 26 at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh. The tournament is being conducted,in order to give exposure and chances to the youngsters at the grass-root level. The tournament will be held on knock-out-cum-league basis. Prize-money will be awarded to the winning team,meanwhile best goalkeeper,best fullback,best forward,best behaved team and halfback will also be awarded.
TT tourney from July 20
CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Table Tennis Association is organising a state ranking table tennis tournament at the Sector 23 TT Hall from July 20 to 22. The following events will be held during meet: under-12 cadet boys and girls’ singles event (for those born on or after January 1,2001); under-15 sub-junior boys and girls’ singles event (for those born on or after January 1,1998); under-18 junior boys and girls’ singles event (for those born on or after January 1,1995); under-21 youth boys and girls’ singles events (for those born on or after January 1,1992; men and women singles). Those interested can deposit the entry fee with the following officials,daily from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Sector 23 TT Hall: Harish Kumar (98150-38384),Harmanpreet Singh (98728-01722) and Richa Pandey (75089-99228). Entries close on July 19,at 6pm. CHANDIGARH: The 15th St Stephen’s carrom ranking tournament,organised by St Stephen’s School,Chandigarh,would be held from July 28 to 30 at St Stephen’s School,Sector 45. The event would be held in the following categories: Men’s singles,women’s singles,boy’s singles (junior),girl’s singles (junior),boy’s singles (sub-junior) and girl’s singles (sub-junior). Players should be under the age of 18 and 14 years as on 31.12.2012 for their participation in the junior or sub-junior events respectively. Chandigarh: Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand will be in Chandigarh to meet city chess players and to attend a seminar at CII headquarters on Tuesday. Anand will meet chess players at 12.00 pm at CII headquarters,Sector 32 and later will address a seminar in the evening.
