Hoardings of sportspersons, actors installed urging residents to come out and cast their votes

To encourage voter turnout in the polls today, the EC has hired a company which has been reaching out to the people in different ways so that they come out and vote.

In a bid to encourage residents to come out and cast their votes on Sunday, the Election Commission (EC) has installed hoardings and banners with pictures of sportspersons Milkha Singh and Abhinav Bindra as well as actor Ayushmann Khurana making an appeal to the voters. Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Tarsem Lal said, “People are motivated when stars make an appeal and that is why we have installed hoardings at several locations in the city. We contacted these people and sought their pictures from them.”

To encourage voter turnout in the polls today, the EC has hired a company which has been reaching out to the people in different ways so that they come out and vote. Moreover, jingles and musical raps are being played on the radio channels urging people to to vote if they love Chandigarh.

Not just this, strips are being run on online shopping sites and on the LED screens of the railway station requesting people to cast their votes. In the 2011 polls, the voters turnout was 59 per cent.
