Hisar: 3 women teachers among 4 killed in accident

As many as four persons, including three women teachers, died in Hisar district Saturday when a school bus and a school van collided due to dense fog. The state government had recently asked all private schools not to function on gazetted holidays but, according to sources, some schools were open Saturday on the occasion of Gurpurab.

The accident took place on a link road leading to village Chidod of Hisar district when there was dense fog in the area. The vehicles belonged to two different private schools situated in different villages of the district. In the van, there were 20 teachers apart from other staff
members. The deceased have been identified as Kusum, Jyoti and Priti, all residents of Hisar.

Driver of the school van, Sanjay, a resident of village Sarangpur (Hisar) also died in the accident. Assistant Sub Inspector Mahender Singh, who is supervising police action into the matter, told The Sunday Express that the bus driver Madan, a resident of village Kalwa, ran away from the spot. “We have lodged an FIR against the bus driver. There were no students in the bus at the time of the accident,” he said.
