Health dept lifts water sample at GMCH-32

The UT Health department officials lifted samples of packaged drinking water bottles from a shop located at the premises of the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32 on Thursday.

The UT Health department officials lifted samples of packaged drinking water bottles from a shop located at the premises of the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32 on Thursday.

The raid was conducted and samples were taken following a complaint of a customer. Police personnel were informed by the complainant who informed the health officials.

According to officials,the bottles were being sold without mentioning the address of the manufacturers and manufacturing unit on the label.

Ram Bhatia,an acquaintance of the complainant,Harpreet Singh Walia,told Newsline that Harpreet’s father is admitted at the hospital. He had come to see him and there jad purchased a bottle of packaged drinking water from Shop No. 2 for Rs 20.

Dr Satbir Singh,Local Health Authority said that it was an unbranded product,“As per the guidelines for such cases,we have sent the sample to the laboratory for further investigation. If found guilty,proper action will be taken against the offenders.”
