Directing the Punjab government to expedite the process of filling up vacancies of elementary teachers, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed the Punjab education department to upload the waiting lists of the candidates on its official website at the earliest.

A division bench comprising Justices S S Saron and Lisa Gill was hearing a case wherein the High Court had taken suo motu notice of the news reports observing that such a situation was disturbing when even women were also climbing the mobile towers in Chandigarh to get their job demands accepted.
During the hearing of the case, Inspector Poonam Dilawari, SHO of Sector 3, Chandigarh, informed the court that the two protesters, Fazilka native Deepak Kumar, 35, and Gurdaspur resident Rakesh Kumar, 30, had refused to climb down from the mobile tower in Sector 3 or get themselves medically examined.
The court directed the Punjab government that for the identification of the 449 common candidates selected for 4,500 posts earlier advertised and also for 2005 posts later advertised, the list of these 449 candidates should also be uploaded on the website. The case was adjourned for December 12.
