HC seeks details on illegal mining

Thew Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Punjab government to furnish information,within 24 hours,regarding the number of FIRs registered this year on charges of illegal mining in and around Ropar. During the resumed hearing of a petition filed by Hardip Singh,the High Court directed the state to make available the said information.

Thew Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Punjab government to furnish information,within 24 hours,regarding the number of FIRs registered this year on charges of illegal mining in and around Ropar. During the resumed hearing of a petition filed by Hardip Singh,the High Court directed the state to make available the said information.

The petitioner,through his counsel Mansur Ali,had accused the Punjab government of remaining a silent spectator to the illegal mining going on in and around Ropar. The High Court has ordered the state to give information with regard to number of FIRs registered this year. The court has also demanded information about on whose orders the FIRs were registered and on whose orders the number of FIRs were cancelled. The court has sought the notings on the file. The case will come up for resumed hearing on Wednesday.
