HC says UT adopting ‘delay tactics’

The Punjab and Haryana High Court,on Wednesday,expressed strong disapproval over the delay being caused by the Chandigarh Administration in making Sector 17 a parking free area. The High Court reprimanded the Administration for adopting 'delay tactics'.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court,on Wednesday,expressed strong disapproval over the delay being caused by the Chandigarh Administration in making Sector 17 a parking free area. The High Court reprimanded the Administration for adopting ‘delay tactics’.

Senior standing counsel for Administration,Sanjay Kaushal stated that the Administration has faced stiff opposition from the shopkeepers,traders and others in making Sector 17 a parking free area. He sought three weeks time to implement the proposal. Refusing to grant three weeks time,the High Court adjourned the case to April 3 directing the Administration to come up with its final stand and solution to make Sector 17 a parking free area.

Meanwhile,former UT senior standing counsel and noted lawyer Anupam Gupta also gave his suggestions and highlighted the practical aspect of making Sector 17 market area parking free.

The High Court asked Anupam Gupta and Advoate A P S Shergill,amicus curiae in the case to give their suggestions in writing and submit the same by the next date of hearing,April 3.
