HC notice to Haryana over Faridabad encroachment

Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday directed the state authorities to ensure that no more violations take place in the area.

Peeved at the Haryana government for having failed to contain encroachment near an ammunition depot in Faridabad,the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday directed the state authorities to ensure that no more violations take place in the area.

The directions were passed by the high court during the resumed hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a Faridabad resident who had moved the court demanding removal of encroachments near the depot. Advocate Onkar Singh Batalvi,counsel for the Centre claimed that despite high court directions more encroachments have come up near the ammunition depot.

On the other hand,counsel for one of the respondents apprised the court that the Supreme Court had stayed two directions of the Haryana government emanating from the High Court orders.
