The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday gave two more weeks’ time for the mediation between Chandigarh Golf Club and Chandigarh Administration,to reach a conclusion in the matter of enhanced lease amount for the club.

On Wednesday, when a petition filed by Golf Club came up for resumed hearing, the counsel for Chandigarh Administration requested the High Court to direct the Golf Club to pay up some amount of the enhanced lease as an interim measure.

On the other hand, counsel for Golf Club apprised the High Court that the mediator,Justice (retd) Kuldip Singh has sent a proposal to both the parties and a final decision is awaited. The case has been adjourned for two weeks.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the Club demanding setting aside the orders of the UT Administration dated wherein the club was asked to deposit rent to the tune of Rs 9,27,48,000 within two months. The club had sought quashing of said letters as it termed them illegal and arbitrary.

The Administration had also enhanced the lease amount from Rs one lakh to Rs 1.62 crore per annum.
