The Punjab and Haryana High Court has questioned the locus standi of the petitioner who had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding action against Sacred Heart School for allegedly expelling Ruchika Girhotra at the behest of former Director General of Police (DGP),Haryana S P S Rathore.

During the resumed hearing of a PIL filed by World Human Rights Protection Council through its Chairman,Advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal the Punjab and Haryana High Court questioned the petitioner to satisfy the Court about its locus standi.

The court has given three weeks time to the petitioner to do so. Counsel for Chandigarh Administration placed on record a copy of the report prepared by its Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) into Ruchika’s alleged expulsion, though the report was prepared around two years ago.

The court directed the administration to file the same in the Registry. On the last date of hearing, counsel for Sacred Heart School had contended that the school had recently challenged the report before a court. In its detailed report,Prerna Puri,Sub-Divisional Magistrate, had indicted the school for expelling Ruchika at the instance of Rathore.
