The Haryana unit of the Trinamool Congress today extended support to the decision of party supremo Mamata Banerjee to withdraw support from the central government. The vice-president of the unit Anil Saini today stated that the party was ready for an agitation in Haryana.

Saini said that the Congress was working against the interests of farmers and the common man. Banerjee,he claimed, had put a stop to this. He said that the party workers have been asked to stay prepared for an agitation. Saini claimed that in the past few months, they have garnered much support for the party in Haryana. People from all walks were joining them.

Saini stressed that the TMC did not want early elections but at the same time, the party leadership had also made it clear that it would not tolerate injustice to people in terms of the recent diesel, cooking gas prices hike and the decision to allow FDI in retail.

Slamming Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for supporting FDI in retail,he said,“While Hooda claims to be a farmers’ friendly leader he was supporting such anti-people policies. Allowing FDI in retail will ruin crores of small traders and shopkeepers. The TMC will initiate a movement against it very soon.”

On the occasion, the party’s Haryana SC/ST Cell president Charan Singh said,“The dalits and backward classes in Haryana had been pro-Congress earlier. But today, people from these sections are associating their selves with the Trinamool Congress.”
